But we all knew that.
I am going for my Masters in English at Southern New Hampshire University, all online.
This has been on my bucket list since 1989, when I graduated college with my BA. If I had my way, I’d go to college in perpetuity, getting every Liberal Arts degree I could, from every college that I could. I’m now almost 60, on dialysis and probably going to die in the next five to ten years. If I can finish this, that would be the most awesome thing I could do.
I’m doing it for two reasons. One: I have it, instead of an MFA which means I have some academic literary novel that won’t sell. Two: I want to hang my shingle up as an editor. To do that, I need either experience, or a piece of paper saying I can do it. A Masters in English might make people think I have a clue. Doctorate would be fun, but I already published novels.
I’ll die before the Student Loan is due.
