Writing prompt

365 Writing Prompts, January 10: Write a scene involving a cruise ship, a change in the weather, and “Fools Rush In.”

The sea looked rough and choppy to me, but I couldn’t feel it on the deck of the massive ship. The air was chilly and I was all alone.

This ship was a lot less turbulent than my uncle’s sailboat, the one I used to get violently ill on. It was because of that belief that I thought I couldn’t handle the sea and stalled going on a cruise to the Bahamas.

As I stood looking out at the waves, I sensed another person on deck. I turned to see another man, dressed in a light leather jacket and stylish green scarf. The scarf was undone, so he didn’t wear it for use but for style. He also had brown hair that went past his shoulders. He had a rugged face, broad shoulders. I will admit he looked model-handsome. Definitely above my pay grade.

He saw me, but didn’t look at me. He walked to the port bow, looking out at the sea.

I had come on the ship alone . I’ll be damned if I was going to spend the whole trip alone.

I looked at the man’s back. Oh, what the hell, I thought, and went to join him at the bow.
