Conversation and action

“Tomas?”

“Yes, sir.”

“How is the quarry?”

“He’s hardly come out of the hotel.”

“Are you certain?”

“We have the people inside.”

“He might be able to become invisible, or become like another person.”

“He’s only come out to see some of the tourist traps and bookstores.” Pause. “Did you find him?”

“Yes, and he has an adopted son that I’m working with.”

“What are you going to do?”

“I’m not going to do anything. I want to see what he is now. According to the papers, he doesn’t have the sword anymore. In the meantime, I have his son.” Pause. “I want you to approach the quarry. Find out what he wants. Offer him terms if you have to. Get him to leave.”

“Yes, sir.”

“And try not to die, Thomas. I’m not there to raise you up.”
