Big problem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>13,000 words into the new novel, and I still have no idea what the plot is.<\/p>\n<p>So far I have introduced:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dragons<\/li>\n<li>Marines<\/li>\n<li>FOB Blessing<\/li>\n<li>Black Lions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I will admit I&#8217;m swiping from some books I&#8217;m reading in addition to <em>Fighting Season\u00a0<\/em>a documentary on Direct TV about the war in Afghanistan. \u00a0Unfortunately, I think, it takes place after my character is there.<\/p>\n<p>A book I&#8217;m reading, <em>Siren&#8217;s Song,<\/em> is about one first lieutenant platoon leader in the Kunar Provence. \u00a0It takes place in 2008, but it mentioned FOB Blessing which I was happy to see. \u00a0FOB Blessing must have been there for quite some time by the time <em>Siren<\/em> gets there; it&#8217;s relatively new when my MC is there.<\/p>\n<p>-Usually by 5K words, I have a plot. \u00a0Or at least a theme. \u00a0Here, I got nuthin&#8217; but an outline.<\/p>\n<p>It bothers me. \u00a0It bothers me that 13K words are going to be a total waste.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>13,000 words into the new novel, and I still have no idea what the plot is.
