The worst part for me is getting started. \u00a0Once I get started, however, it’s like I can see different threads that show the end. \u00a0I pick one of those threads and I write toward it.<\/p>\n
Most of the stuff I’m writing is bullshit. \u00a0It’s not even a story, or if it is, it meanders. \u00a0Toxicon’s story was horrible. \u00a0It started in one place and ended up in another. \u00a0Holder’s went all over the place before ending where it began. \u00a0And Jack’s – well, it was an all-of-a-sudden thing with him.<\/p>\n
It’s crap. \u00a0It’s garbage.<\/p>\n
But it’s writing.<\/p>\n
Getting past that editor in my head is the worst part. \u00a0The one that says, “You have an audience, you know, and they’re reading this shit – they’re not going to read your stuff anymore because you’re not staying with one thing that they know. \u00a0They want to know about Knight and Mike, maybe Toxi\u00a0– but who are these other guys you’re writing about? \u00a0They don’t care.”<\/p>\n
I’m not sure. \u00a0But it’s my blog, it’s a raw blog, and it’s meant to have garbage. \u00a0I only hope that they stick with it – or if they want to skip over it, that’s fine with me, too. \u00a0The idea is to get 800 words out, and I feel that I need to put it somewhere <\/em>where people can see it. \u00a0Otherwise, my feet are not held to the fire and I won’t do anything.<\/p>\n I’m reading Bird by Bird<\/em>, and finding it to be fun and true in parts. \u00a0I got to the “Jealousy” essay\u00a0and I was thinking, “Yes, YES, that’s so me.” \u00a0To read someone else’s crap and say, “This is crap. \u00a0Why did they get published and I’m not?”<\/p>\n Well, I can answer that pretty easily: \u00a0Because I don’t submit. \u00a0 \u00a0I’m too scared.<\/p>\n I want to submit to Samhain Publishing. \u00a0I wish WD would put together a “small publisher” book instead having to push us to\u00a0getting into the BIG THREE. \u00a0Grimaulkin<\/em> is not going to be a best seller. \u00a0I’ll probably be on independent\u00a0podcasts (though I think I’d refuse, because I don’t want to disappoint the readers who are reading “Jacob Logan”‘s stories). \u00a0 I still think of 50 Shades of Grey<\/em> and know\u00a0that the only reason that sold is it’s fanfic of Twilight <\/em>(another story that should never have seen the light of day). \u00a0What if I try to sell Grimaulkin as fanfic of Harry Potter? \u00a0Will it hit the bestseller list? \u00a0No, because we need sex in it.<\/p>\n Some of my other characters are epic and I want to write their stories – Knight and Mal, for instance. \u00a0Casey, my first love. \u00a0Mike and Scott (as opposed to Grimaulkin).<\/p>\n Meanwhile, I’ll still be ADD and write character stories all over the place…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" On my twitter account, I said, “800 words for 3 days in a row. \u00a0I’m tired.” The worst part for me is getting started. \u00a0Once I get started, however, it’s like I can see different threads that show the end. … Continue reading
