Brent Rogers returns to his posting in Afghanistan, after being tortured by the militant Taliban group, Black Lions. He is given new orders: to be a liaison between the armed forces and four independent battle dragons.
In trying to learn their ways, Brent attempts to become friends with them. But there are many people in the deserts and mountains of Afghanistan who want to see him fail, not the least of which is the military.
